I then helped Tom with the head of his man characted.
It's going to have a replacable mount, to make any expressions quick and easy to do. To do this, there would be a steel plate fitted into the head of the character and small magnet fitted into the replacement mouths.
To fit the steel into the head, I first cut out a suitable sized piece of steel. I then laid in onto the head and carefully marked it out.
I then cut out a small recess into the head, that would just big enough to take the steel plate, but keep it level with the head so the mouths would sit flush and hold reliably in place.
The piece of steel was then simply fitting in place using epoxy, this keeps the weight down and also permanently bonds the steel into the head.
