070311 - Helping Tom with Foam Latex

Tom needed a hand mixing up a batch of foam latex to redo his man character.

We also made up an aluminium wire armature to replace the ball join armature as we were having a few problems with it.

First the mixing instructions for followed, using a timer to make sure we got the mix right.

Then mould release was rubbed onto both halves of the plaster (crystacal R) mould.

The mould was then carefully filled with the foam latex, both halves of the mould pressed together and stood on for 20 or so minutes (or until the foam latex began to gel). It was then put into the oven, at 90 degrees C and left for around 4/5 hours.
